Harvest Festivals in San Gimignano
Harvest Festivals During the third week of June, lovers of chivalry can indulge in the medieval San Gimignano. For three days the town goes back centuries in time. In the thirteenth century, competed in the Ferie delle Messi (feast of the harvest) four contrade (neighborhoods) against each other, in honor of fertility. This was accompanied by music and dancing, and hope for a good harvest that year. The same parts piece by piece reenacted, with the highlight the Corteo delle Messi: a big parade with more than 500 participants in medieval costumes. Absolutely recommended a sight to see!
